The End of the World

A speculative Article on How the World May End

The world as we know it will eventually end. Some say It will end through some explosions, asteroids, volcanoes, other natural disasters, etc. As of now, there are many impending threats from nature, as well as the cosmos, but none are truly life threatening (Yet).

There are plenty of phoney articles across the web about some asteroids deciding to obliterate the earth, but let’s be realistic. Almost every major country across the globe has major space research organisations, and these guys have eyes in the sky 24/7. anything that seems even remotely threatening, will be known to them before anyone else, and why would they tell the public? they don’t want a planet-wide panic! further, NASA has already developed technologies like DART, which plan to blast off any asteroids close by with an array of super strong missiles.

So now, let’s have a look at some REAL possibilities of how the earth might end, but don’t worry. the chances of mass extinction within the next 2 to 3 generations are so slim that you are more likely to see squids drive cars than to see the end of the world.

  • 1 Asteroid Impact

Okay, okay, we just proved how asteroid impact articles are mostly phoney. However, it is still possible that an asteroid will hit the earth, but it isn’t expected any time soon. There is a mild chance that the asteroid Apophis, which is 370 meters across in width, might glide by the earth in 2029, but won’t collide. let’s take a look at how big and heavy would an asteroid have to be to actually cause extremely high damage.

Small space rocks fall onto the earth quite often. most of them don’t weigh any more than 10-50 kgs. At worst these fall into homes, or cars, or the extremely rare case of them grazing an earthling. For a truly deadly Impact, something the size of Apophis would be needed, but none plan on coming soon.

  • 2 Sun Explosion

The sun, like all stars, will eventually sputter up and explode. obviously, if the earth still exists at that time, and is in the sun’s vicinity, it shall be decimated by the sun’s blast. however, there are still 7 to 8 million years before that happens. It is likely that humans don’t even exist to see the sun’s end.

  • 3 Andromeda x Milky way

This is by far the least likely, as by the time these two collide (5 billion years) our race should be long extinct. but still, it is a lot like two people firing guns at each other. it is very unlikely that the bullets would hit each other. Similarly, the earth shouldn’t collide with anything, but in theory, passing by celestial bodies could cause a change in gravitational fields such that the earth is knocked out of its orbit, or pulled into the sun.

And therefore, we see that most of these celestial events
